NPP reacts to attack on journalist in Yendi during primaries
The attack on Mohammed Alabira, the Northern Regional Correspondent for Citi FM, during the recently concluded Parliamentary primary in Yendi has not been officially reported to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), according to the party.
This was revealed by General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, who also stated that following the filing of a complaint, appropriate action would be taken.
“Well, as of right now, I haven’t heard of any reports of that like. If it had happened, the party would have looked into it as it would have been an awful event.
In an interview with Citi FM in Accra, he declared, “NPP is a party that would never support any act that seeks to undermine and attack the integrity of journalists in this country.”
The so-called John F. Kennedy claimed not to have known about the occurrence beforehand.
“Well, I have not, You might not expect that I’ll know everything that is happening. From Saturday, as General Secretary, I’ve been overburdened with several issues and just today I was at Manhyia, so it is possible that I might not have heard it and I’ve told you that I’ve not, and I’ve even made a position that if it happened, it would have been an unfortunate incident,” he stated.
During the pandemonium at the Yendi SHS voting center, Mr. Alabira was allegedly beaten by Yendi MP Farouk Aliu Mahama.
Ballot sheets that were destroyed and property damage were observed during the disturbances to the counting process. One person is being held at this time, and the police are aggressively looking for additional individuals connected to the crime.
